Berkshire Crisis Team

If you’re suffering from an acute mental health problem or crisis, we can provide you with a safe and effective home assessment. Where possible, we’ll try and provide treatment in your own home so you can avoid being admitted to hospital. When this isn’t possible, we’ll refer you to our mental health inpatient services. Once you’ve been referred to our service, we’ll contact you to arrange an assessment so we can make sure this is the best treatment for you. We’ll ask you, your family and any carers about your needs and work with you to plan your short-term intensive care safely and ease your distress. This might mean signposting you to other services that can also provide support and treatment. Once your mental health has improved, we’ll refer you back to the care of your local GP, a specialist service or our Community Mental Health Team.

We accept referrals for the following conditions:

  • Experiencing a mental health crisis
  • Have significant mental health risks which urgently require further assessment
  • Need short-term intensive mental health treatment and support to avoid a crisis
  • Would be admitted to psychiatric hospital care without intervention
  • Disengaged with an urgent need to re-establish medication/treatment
  • Need intensive mental health intervention for a safe discharge from inpatient care
  • Need a seven day follow up after discharge from Prospect Park Hospital.
