Preparation

GP appointments last around 10 minutes. During the appointment your GP will ask you questions about your mental and physical health. Try to be as honest as possible, giving as much detail as you can about how you’re feeling and what you've been experiencing. This will help them understand what might help you.

Don't be afraid to ask questions, especially if the GP says something that you don’t understand or doesn’t sound right. Before your appointment you might find it helpful to write down what you want to talk about. This can be useful if you are feeling anxious or worried, as it can help you remember the questions you want to ask.

Doc Ready (created by YMCA Right Here) allows you to plan what you're going to say to your doctor and has other useful information to ensure you get the most from the appointment.
